Every speech receives feedback: what worked and what needs to be improved.

The entire session is in German. Grammatik monitors your language and at the end tells you what sounded good and what needs to be fixed. Plus the word of the day – Wort des Tages.

As a guest, you can just watch. If you want, try a short impromptu speech.

Häufige Fragen

Frequently asked questions

Who is the Vox Fortis club for?

For everyone in Slovakia who wants to improve their German, from level A2. That is, for intermediate and advanced learners who want to speak German more fluently and confidently. It is suitable for people who need German at work, commuters to Austria or Germany, people on official business and German teachers. The entire meeting is in German.

What level of German do I need?

From level A2. You should be able to communicate in German. If you are starting from scratch (A1), the meeting will not give you much. It is best to come and see as a guest and judge for yourself.

Will I learn German from scratch at Vox Fortis?

No. Vox Fortis is not a language course. We do not explain grammar, teach vocabulary, or give homework. If you are new to German, take a course first. When you can speak German, come join us.

How can I improve my German when I have the basics?

By actively using it in front of people and getting feedback. At Vox Fortis, you speak German all evening: prepared speeches, short impromptu speeches and assessments. In addition, the grammarian monitors the language and at the end tells you what sounded good and what needs to be corrected.

How is it different from conversation lessons?

In a conversation class, you speak to a tutor. In Vox Fortis, you speak in front of a group and in different situations: a prepared speech, a speech on an unknown topic, an evaluation of others. You receive feedback from several people at once.

What if I make mistakes in German?

That's okay, that's what you're here for. Mistakes are part of training. Feedback is specific and to the point: first what worked, then what to improve.

Is this suitable if I work in Austria or Germany, commute or go on business?

Yes. You practice exactly what you need in a meeting, with a client or at work: speaking fluently, clearly stating what is at stake, and responding promptly to questions. The meetings are online, so you can join from abroad or from your hotel.

Is this also suitable for German teachers?

Yes. In class you explain German, here you actively use it yourself: you speak in front of a group, respond without preparation and receive feedback. In addition, you practice your presentation, which you will also use in front of the class.

When and where does Vox Fortis meet?

Online via Zoom, every other Thursday at 7:00 PM. Join from anywhere. The current date and meeting link are on the club's Facebook page.

How much does it cost?

As a guest you come for free. If you become a member you pay a membership fee which is a fraction of the price of private German lessons.

Do I have to speak as a guest?

No. You can just watch. If you want, try a short impromptu speech.
